University of El Oued

 

The University of El Oued finds solutions and provides expertise. The Secretary-General of the University presides over a meeting with representatives of the Higher Youth Council of the province to establish joint model farms

 

In line with what the University of El Oued, under the guidance of the University Rector, Professor Omar Farhati, aims to be beneficial to its economic, social, and technical environment, the university’s goals include finding solutions and contributing to wealth creation and development while offering all its scientific and research expertise.
In pursuit of these objectives and at the request of the Provincial Youth Council in El Oued for collaboration and cooperation in the field of the university’s scientific and research expertise, a meeting was held on September 17, 2023. The meeting was chaired by Dr. Choukhi Madlal, the Secretary-General of the University of El Oued, in the presence of Professor Amar Zaabi, the University’s Vice Rector for Development and Forward Planning, Professor Soufyane Saghai, the Director of the Higher School of Saharan Agriculture, college deans, and a group of professors and researchers, along with members of the Higher Youth Council,represented by Ms. Chaima Ben Ammar, Dr. AyoubCharKi, and Mr. Fadil Mohamed.
After an opening speech by the Secretary-General of the University, in which he welcomed the attendees, an agenda for the meeting was presented, which falls under  consultation and coordination regarding the concerns of the youth in the province and the numerous projects proposed by the Higher Youth Council. He emphasized that the university is ready to offer assistance to the council through its academic, pedagogical, and research staff and scientific laboratories.

The Secretary-General also provided an overview of the university’s eight faculties and their scientific, pedagogical, and research structures. The Director of the Higher School of Saharan Agriculture welcomed the idea, confirming that the school is open to the ideas and projects of the council, especially concerning the model farm and palm  cultivation.
Dr. Said Ghandir, an expert and student at the University of El Oued, presented a project on the smart farm, highlighting its objectives and the issue of the decline in agricultural production in the province’s cultivated areas.

Mr. Mohamed Fadil, a member of the Higher Youth Council, gave a presentation about the municipalities that have agreed to provide agricultural land to youth interested in establishing model farms. These municipalities include Teghzaout, Al-Makran, Al-Nakhla, and Al-Talib Al- Arabi. He mentioned that council members had a meeting with the Minister of Agriculture regarding support and assistance to youth who will be granted these model farms. The discussion was then opened to deans and professors for proposals, finding solutions, and the effectiveness of implementation for the mentioned projects.

The Secretary-General and the Deputy Director for Development and Forward Planning affirmed the university’s readiness to assist council members, realize their ideas, and accompany them in implementing the mentioned projects, and a committee was established to monitor the proposed model farm project by the Higher Youth Council and the
University of El Oued.
