Today, November 21, 2023, the international forum on “Renewable Energies and Their Applications” was launched . It was organized by the Renewable Energies Research and Development Unit in coordination with the Faculty of Science and Technology at the University of Echahid Hamma Lakhdar in the Grand Lecture Hall, Abou Al-Kasim Saadallah.
This scientific event was supervised by the University Rector, Professor Omar Farhati, in the presence of the University Vice Rector for Scientific Research, Professor Boubakar Mansour, the deans of the faculties, the director of the forum, Dr. Loussif Khaled Mohamed Al-Tayeb, members of the scientific committee of the forum headed by Dr. Aoun Yassine, the organizing committee of the forum headed by Dr. Hima Abdel kader, and the family of the faculty of exact sciences and the faculty of technology, researchers and professors participating remotely from inside and outside the country and students.

Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Kamal Baddari and Minister of Knowledge Economy, Startups, and Small Businesses Dr. Yacine Mahdi Walid addressed the students and professors at the University of El Oued, affirming that university students are the future entrepreneurs who will lead Algeria into an economy based on knowledge and technology.
Kamal Baddari emphasized to the students and professors at the University of El Oued that his message to them is to “nurture the ideas of the students and professors in creating startups and small economic institutions,.” He directed his words to the students by stating, “Your role makes you entrepreneurs and actors in the socio-economic change that Algeria is experiencing, thanks to the innovations and creative work you are doing in various university spaces.” He pointed out the importance of startups and the knowledge economy in creating wealth and providing employment opportunities, emphasizing that “the future of the students lies in startups and entrepreneurial thinking, considering that the economy is now based on precision technology, robotics, and artificial intelligence.” For his part, Dr. Yacine Mahdi Walid, Minister of Knowledge Economy, Startups, and Small Businesses, stated in his speech that “Algeria needs a new generation of young entrepreneurs, and it looks to the university to be a cradle for entrepreneurs.” He considered the small businesses and startups created by young people to be capable of “providing employment opportunities and transitioning our economy from one based on natural resource exploitation to a new economy based on knowledge and young talents. The University of El Oued is a pioneer in the field of patents and startups at the national level.” On the occasion, University Director Professor Omar Ferhati presented a summary of the university’s achievements, where the University of El Oued ranks first nationally in patents with 166 patents and 140 startups. He added also that the wilaya and the Wilaya’s people’s council allocated financial credits to support the new medical annex.
During their visits to various institutions of the University of El Oued, the ministerial delegation was accompanied by the Wali, the president of the Wilaya’s people’s council, local authorities, the university Rector, the director of the Higher School of Saharian Agriculture, and the director of university services.
During the inauguration of the first trees in the university space and the inspection of the “Green Algeria” project, Kamal Baddari announced the launch of a national project to green the university institutions, which involves planting 1 million trees at a rate of one tree per university student. This environmental project is part of the strategy of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to create a green and clean university environment based on trees and greenery.
The two ministers inaugurated the Artificial Intelligence House at the university headquarters and the University Campus at the 18th of February quarter , which houses the business incubator, entrepreneurship development center, technology and innovation support center, and the university-institution linkage office, in addition to visiting the exhibition of innovative projects and institutions and the Higher School of Saharian Agriculture, where they observed an exhibition of agricultural products for economic operators and the waste sorting process and learned about the environmental project related to the green crescent. The ministers also visited Saleh Hadda University Campus and spoke with international students, hearing a performance in classical Arabic presented by students from Uzbekistan studying the Arabic language at the Faculty of Literature and Languages at the University of El Oued.
At the end of their visit, the ministers supervised the certificate awarding ceremony for student athletes who achieved good results in their specialties, the accreditation certificate for the first university sports club, the accreditation certificate for some subsidiary economic institutions, and the honoring of student inventor Mohammed Kassab for his invention of a drawing board for the blind person , with models being presented to the them along with a smart walking stick, and the honoring of the owner of a startup for his invention and the honoring of Mr. Maallal Fouad, the owner of the “Green Algeria” project.
