The University of El Oued expresses solidarity with Palestinian students
On January 21, 2024, the university community at the University of Echahid Hamma Lakhder organized a solidarity meeting in honor of Palestinian students studying at the University . The university’s Rector, Professor Omar Ferhati, met in the honorary hall with the representative of the Palestinian students, Mohammed Abdul Karim Mokdad, a third-year Ph.D. student specializing in psychology. The meeting was attended by the director of university services, the vice rector of the university for external relations, the dean of the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences, and the university’s general secretary. The university rector expressed solidarity with the Palestinian student from Gaza on behalf of the university community and, the entire Algerian nation, with the Palestinian people who are steadfastly and tenaciously fighting the battle for liberation from the clutches of the occupying Zionist enemy. He recalled the words of the late President Houari Boumediene, “Algeria is with Palestine, whether oppressed or victimized.”
The university rector also acknowledged the supportive gesture of the President of the Republic, the government, and the responsible ministry towards Palestinian students in Algeria, facilitating their educational and service matters. He pointed out that the University of El Ouedis the first university to disburse the new grant allocated to Palestinian students by the President of the Republic.
In response, the student from Gaza expressed his gratitude to the university rector, Professor Omar Ferhati, and the director of services, Djamal Koraicha, and the dean of the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences, Dr. Amar Ghrayssa, for all the facilities provided to Palestinian students. He affirmed that these significant efforts have a profound impact on their academic and residential lives, expressing his love and gratitude to the entire university community for their generous gesture towards Palestinian students. He thanked the President of the Republic for his keen interest in Palestinian students, easing their hardships by allocating a respectable monthly grant. He emphasized that the Palestinian people draw inspiration from the Algerian people’s principles of struggle and resistance against the occupier until they achieve complete and undiminished freedom and independence. On this occasion, the Palestinian student presented a souvenir from Gaza, a book about Gaza.
It’s worth noting that the Palestinian student, Mohammed AbdulKarim Mokdad, was accompanied by the university rector during his tour, which led to the inauguration of the Training and Information Hall at the Faculty of Islamic Sciences.
