A study day at El Oued University on the reality and prospects of afforestation in the Wilaya.

Today, March 21, 2023, the University of Echahid Hamma Lakhdar, in coordination with the Forestry Governorate, organized a study day on “the reality and prospects of afforestation in the Wilayat of El Oued” under the slogan Forests and Health

This event was organized on the occasion of the International Day of Forests, which falls on the 21st of March of each year.

It was attended by Messrs. Rector of the University Professor Omar Farhati and his Vice Rectors , Forestry Governor, Secretary General of the Wilaya, , Vice President of the Wilaya People’s Assembly, Head of the Department, executives and employees of the Forest Governorate, the university family and members of the Green Club of the Islamic Scouts.

The Rector of the University gave a welcoming speech, and referred to the celebration of this blessed day and the importance of this distinguished event in the field of caring for forests and trees. On the occasion, he referred to the importance of the university’s experimental farm, stressing that it is a model farm for the first new agricultural experiment in an advanced way. He thanked the forest governor for this strategic partnership that brings the university together with the forest governorate.

For his part, the Governor of the Forests gave a welcoming .He spoke on the environment and how to preserve it, referring also to forests and their vital role in preserving the environmental balance and regulating the climate. He stressed that we have to protect them and raise awareness to give future generations an opportunity to enjoy what forests provide Benefits and beauty. He also had an intervention to present the most important achievements of the sector, through which he was exposed to the modern watering technology “Water Box”, which constitutes a qualitative leap in watering trees in dry areas.

Dr. Ahmed Alali also delivered an intervention entitled “Tree Varieties Adapted to El Oued Region”, in which he addressed the field of environmental diversity and vegetation cover and its relationship to animals, birds and humans.

To conclude the occasion by honoring forest staff on the occasion of their promotion, the forest governor was also honored by members of the Green Club.
