Report on the Participation of Teachers and Staff in Erasmus Sustainable Development Courses

Participation of professors from the University of El Oued in the Erasmus+ training program at the University of Rouen, France

As part of the training program organized by the Erasmus+ program, professors from the University of El Oued participated in training on sustainable development and social responsibility. The participating professors included Fares Issaadi, Ammar Zabi, Saleh Khachkhoush, and Mr. Zakaria Karshou. The training commenced on Monday, May 22, 2023, and continued until Friday, May 26, 2023.

The program included various lectures, including a lecture titled “13 Years of Sustainable Development and Social Responsibility at the University of Rouen” delivered by Professor Fabien Tomer. A visit to the university campus was organized to observe various facilities related to sustainable development at the University of Rouen, with explanations provided by various individuals involved in achieving the set goals, including the active involvement of students in achieving sustainable development goals at the university.

A general discussion session was held on the second day to address the question of how to reduce carbon dioxide emissions, the associated risks, proposed solutions, and strategies that should be implemented.

The second day also featured a lecture on “Sustainable Development and Social Responsibility in Education” by Professor Fabien Tomer and a lecture on climate change by Camille Brunie.

In the evening, practical workshops were conducted, discussing the causes of climate change, its risks, and its impact on the future of humanity. Most of the discussions focused on influencing individuals’ culture and instilling behaviours that contribute to environmental conservation and avoiding its adverse effects.

The various organized activities saw active participation from all attendees, leaving a positive impression regarding the Algerian delegation and their awareness of various environmental threats.
