Extremism as an entry point for geopolitical reconfiguration in the Arab world

 

The Rector of Echahid  Hamma Lakhdar University El Oued – Professor Omar Farahati made an important intervention entitled “Extremism as an entry point for geopolitical reconfiguration in the Arab world” during the works of the international forum “The Geopolitics of Extremism: Starting, Threats, Challenges and Confrontational Mechanisms”, which was organized on December 3-4 by the Institute of Graduate Studies In national security under the high patronage of the President of the Republic, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, Minister of National Defense, and headed by Mr. Lieutenant General, Chief of Staff of People’s National Army.

In this important  political intervention that dealt with the impact of extremist entities implanted in the Arab world on changing the Arab geopolitical map. Professor Omar Farhati tried to answer a central question that occupied the Arab public opinion; which is can extremism in all its entities, and forms be considered as an influential factor in redrawing the geopolitical map in the Arab world?

To discuss this ,Professor Farhati started by introducing the political background in the Arabic word .In recent decades there has been many transformation in this region which led to the emergence of multiple crises and disputes. The factors , as he said, that led  to the birth of such crises are caused by some parties that are targeting the Arabic word (for its fortunes) and wants to eliminate the Arabic entity. He gave the examples of Iraq , Syria , Libya and Sudan

He stressed on that a strategy is made to promote extremism in the goal of weakening  the Arabic world. Extremism is the vocal or active opposition to our fundamental values, including democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, and respect and tolerance for different faiths and beliefs. It’s important to remember that youth is category the most targeted.

Professor Omar Farhati warned, during his analysis of the phenomenon of extremism, that it took different forms, religious extremism, intellectual extremism, cultural extremism, social extremism, and sports extremism. Indeed, we have reached – as he said – what is called scientific extremism, represented by the completion of studies, research and experiments aimed at negatively affecting people. Humanity. He said that the Arab world witnessed many of these extremist entities, which against  – according to him – the moderate convictions of the Arab peoples closely linked to the Islamic religion, which establishes the values of peace, tolerance and cooperation, and renounces extremism in all its forms.

During his diagnosis of the current Arab political scene, Professor Farhati raised the extent of the presence of these extremist entities in the political arena.  So who supports these extremist entities? Professor Farhati answers, “Support is direct and indirect from foreign parties that have clearly contributed to changing the geopolitical map of the Arab world.”
